Project House : Downstairs Bathroom

ok... so we have been steady busy trying to get some of the our house projects done. (the house was a foreclosure and was pretty bad when we bought it) There is still a lot to do but we now can cross off the downstairs bathroom! I found a picture at Lowes and that was the inspiration. I did the design.... and Nathan did all of the grunt work. :)  And man he did an amazing job! It looks fantastic.

ok so here is what it looked like when we bought the house.

And here is the After!!

I LOVE how it turned out. Bright and cheerful... classic. love love love.

A close up of the horrid duck wallpaper.

Nathan completely gutted the whole thing. He did all of the plumbing, he tiled the floor... yes, that is tile that looks like wood. So Cool right? All of the look AND easy to maintain. He even built the vanity. I got one talented man. :)

The tub is an old 1920's clawfoot that we found on craigslist. Nathan rigged it up so that it would fit, because it was slightly to wide.

I got the paint at Lowes... it is called Sea salt. I love it. It might make a reappearance.  We framed the mirrors and the sinks we got online. I think everything came together so nicely.

Ok now for some side by sides!

ok... what do you think?!

Halloween 2012

I love our little neighborhood. Safe, small and relatively unknown unless you live close by. We went out early this year so that it would still be light out. The little guys didnt last long, I ended up taking them home early while Nathan stayed with the older two to hit up a few more houses.
Our costumes turned out pretty good this year, considering I have a horrible habit of waiting until the last minute. So here is the run down....

Tes
Tessiesue decided that she wanted to be an actual Black Widow. The girl has a thing about bugs. So I grabbed a black pair of yoga pants and  turtleneck. I then grabbed a few pair of black cheep leggings. I cut off the legs, stuffed them and sewed them on to the turtle neck, along with some red felt for the the belly. Add some fake lashes and some red lipstick and costume done!

Vann
Both Vann and Braydan were Ninjago characters. Vann was the Legendary Green Ninja...  We got our hands on a white karate uniform, which I dyed green and an old t-shirt that we made into his cowl. He wore it for three days straight. :)

Braydan
Braydan was the Black Ninjago, Cole.  I spruced up his old black karate uniform and Nathan found the weapons and spray painted them the appropriate colors. A gold Scythe for the black ninja and two silver ninja swords for the Green Ninja. I attached some elastics loops to the backs of their uniforms to hold their weapons. I am officially mom of the year.

Kash
Kash Monkey! My Mom and sister Kelly made this costume for Braydan when he was two. Every one of the kids has worn it at one point. Love it. He ran from house to house with arms held out in front of him holding his bag. Such a stinkin cutie.

Here we go... now these were all taken with my phone (my camera battery died) so they are not the best quality.

Project House: Pantry

So we knocked out another project... One that had been bugging the crap out of me. 😝
The pantry really looked like someone had just thrown up some cheapo wire shelves and a few wood ones that maybe they had sitting around and then called it good. It drove me nuts... So here is what we did.

Before:

I had already started to empty it out when I remembered to take a picture so that is why the top shelves are already empty. But you get the picture.... scary. I was a big gaping hole in the wall with crapy shelves. I hated it. So, Nathan took all his measurements... I told him what I wanted it to look like and we headed to Lowes.
(We have a galley style kitchen... so getting a good angle can be a bit difficult.)

All emptied out:
I think at one time, they had a washer and dryer unit in here... all the  plug in's and water valves were a pain to deal with.

What my counters looked like through the weekend:

Beadboard is up as well as the start of my shelves!

We put some nice trimming along the outer edges of the shelves to give it a more finished look.

Done painting! I was going to be a little more adventure some with color... Something like this.I was going to add some wallpaper or something on the inside. But Beadboard was faster and less of a headache. So white it is... for now.

Now for the doors and black door pulls... with little helpers of course.

All Done!!

Woo!! No more coming through the front door and seeing everything that is in my pantry!

Now to clear off my counters, reorganize and get it all in there...

It fits SO much more now. Things might even have a chance of remaining organized!  Nathan did an amazing job making sure it was what I wanted but at the same time strong and sturdy.

So here we go..  side by side

Hmm... what to do next.

Bad luck tooth

About a year ago, Vann hit his two front teeth really hard. So hard in fact they started to turn grey. We thought they were done for, at least one of them for sure. He went on to smack them twice more. But they were still connected and eventually they made a full recovery.
Today he went to play at a friends house and came home minus one tooth. The boys were on the trampoline and Vann came down on another boy and that was that. He was very sad and i told him it was ok, he just wouldn't have a front tooth for a while... He looked at me with lots of tears and said " I NEED my tooth!"
We will be making a big todo about the Tooth Fairy tonight. ;)
and of course this warranted fudgesicles.
